Filing a USERRA complaint with the Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS)
What can I expect?
Gather information to file your complaint:
Your name, address, and telephone number
Your uniformed service information, including the name of the unit, address, and phone number
The name, address, and telephone number of the employer (or employment agency or union) you want to file a complaint against
A detailed description of the events you believe were discriminatory (for example, you were fired, demoted, harassed)
When the events took place
Why you believe you were discriminated against
Decide how you want to file:
By mail or fax
Once your claim is received, VETS will send you a notification of process rights within five days.
Contact the VETS staff member in your state of residence about USERRA or the investigation process.
If an investigation finds evidence to support your claim, we will attempt to reach a satisfactory resolution through negotiation or mediation.
